If you look closely at pictures of the Ultra66 and Ultra100, you'll notice that aside from the controller chip, it ALSO has a BIOS chip.
Now, take a look at the newer Ultra100 TX2 and Ultra133 TX2 and notice how it is only using a SINGLE chip(i.e. no BIOS chip).
However, another quick glance at the Promise site for Ultra133 TX2 downloads will yield a BIOS update being offered.
I have an Ultra66 and an Ultra133 TX2 which are updated with the latest BIOS. During the initial boot, the former displays the current BIOS like this one, but the latter doesn't.
Now, the question is, does the Ultra100/133 TX2 contain a BIOS which can be updated? When I updated my Ultra133 TX2's BIOS using a boot diskette, all went well including the update success confirmation of Promise's own BIOS updater program itself. Friends, I'm puzzled.
P.S.
I sent an e-mail directly to Promise but alas, still haven't gotten any response.

Another strange thing is that the Ultra66 seems to detect the IDE devices MUCH quicker than the Ultra133 TX2, thus speeding up the boot time a bit further. Maybe it had something to do with the BIOS(or lack of) or maybe the quality per se of the newer Ultra100/133 TX2 have dipped somewhat? Your thoughts?
